Initially Traffic was the title of Vic Mensa’s debut album, it was scheduled for a 2015 relase. In an interview with AllHipHop, the Chicago native said that he scrapped Traffic to create an album that was more authentic. I made an album and then I didn’t feel like it was the right representation. So I started making a new album On June 2nd 2017, Fake Shore Drive founder Andrew Barber gave a detailed preview of Vic Mensa’s debut album. Barber announced the album would drop this summer, with appearances from Joey Purp, The-Dream, Chief Keef, Mr. Hudson, and Ty Dolla $ign among others with hip-hop veteran No I.D. taking credit as the album’s executive producer. On July 11th, 2017, Vic announced offered fans an opportunity to listen to his album before its release, provided they followed his instructions. Later that day, Vic announced that “The Autobiography” would release on July 28th, 2017.
