Art Official Age - Prince
Art Official Age

Art Official Age, Prince’s 37th studio album, was released on September 30, 2014. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was released simultaneously with another album, Plectrumelectrum, which featured an all-female backup band, 3rdeyegirl. Art Official Age garnered mixed reviews from critics. The LA Times called it “an exquisite Prince R&B album,” while Q magazine dubbed it “an overlong, pan-generic concept album.” Still, the album produced such hits as “Breakdown” and “Clouds,” and was largely seen as a “classic Prince” album since the production, arrangement and composition was done almost exclusively by Prince himself (in tandem with Joshua Welton). It was also Prince’s first project with Warner Bros. Records since the two collaborated on 1995’s The Gold Experience.
