Kid Ink’s third album doesn’t quite scale the commercial heights of 2014’s My Own Lane, but it’s a conscious effort to make something different and more innovative. Production is largely handled by lesser known names, although DJ Mustard, KeY Wane and Metro Boomin pop up. The guest list is much more accomplished, with Chris Brown, DeJ Loaf, Usher, R. Kelly, Tinashe, Young Thug, Trey Songz and Migos all contributing. This gives the album a decidedly R&B flavour, as Kid Ink mixes hip-hop with a more melodic element. He told The Boom Box: The response I am getting from people is that they are getting an old Kid Ink feel or style.
