After a successful year following the release of his August 2014 mixtape Body High, the intended volume project X serves as a sequel to a drug induced lifestyle. In an interview with Lyrical Lemonade, Lucki wasted no time explaining what he was looking for within' this project — which he planned for the mixtape to be the breakout mixtape — in which he comments: I want it be the breakout, like I never really had any intentions for my last two to be breakout tapes, you know? I just knew they were solid, but, I want this to be the breakout one. On May 6, 2015, LUCKI would officially reveal the release date and at-the-time artwork for the mixtape cover, via Twitter.
