Royalty - Chris Brown
Royalty

Royalty is Chris' seventh solo studio album, the follow up to September 2014’s X and his eighth album in total following February 2015’s Fan of a Fan: The Album. The album is named after Chris’ firstborn daughter Royalty and it was revealed in March 2015 that Chris was the father of then 9-month old Royalty by model Nia Guzman. Chris started teasing Royalty in late 2014, sharing snippets of some tracks on Instagram and playing them during club appearances. The album was initially slated for a November 27, 2015 release date, and its album cover was revealed on October 16. The album was delayed until December 18, but Chris released a free 34-track mixtape Before the Party on Royalty’s original release date to tide listeners over. Royalty was preceded by four singles: “Liquor," “Zero,” “Back to Sleep,” and “Fine By Me.” The Tayla Parx-assisted “Anyway” was an instant-grat track when the album was pre-ordered on iTunes. Chris directed and released 8 music videos from Royalty telling a linear story. The standard edition includes the first 14 tracks, and the deluxe edition includes 4 bonus tracks. A Japanese edition was also released, including “The 80’s” and “Blue Jeans,” which were later included on Royalty International – EP. Royalty debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 184 copies in its first week. It also placed #4 in Billboard’s Top R&B Albums of 2015 and is certified Platinum by the RIAA.
