On April 22, 2016, Birdman would reveal on his Instagram that the official release date of the album was going to be June 24, 2016. The album was announced when the meme about Birdman’s catchphrase “Respek” was gaining popularity on the internet. Throughout 2016, Birdman would release several singles that were thought to be on his project Ms. Gladys. On June 24, 2016, which was the official release date for the project, it didn’t release.
