After the independent release of his debut album Blue Slide Park, an album that was critically scrutinized despite commercial success, Mac Miller fell into a depression, deeper use of drugs, and rose out of all the hate with his most ambitious project yet: Macadelic, Mac’s eighth mixtape, described on the back cover as “inspired by love, drugs, and the search for euphoria” and “based on a true story”. The tape’s title, a mix of “Mac” and “psychedelic”, is largely reflected in the tape’s soundscape. Macadelic also has a multitude of high profile features and producers throughout. On May 4th, 2018, Macadelic was remastered and re-released commercially.
