On January 12th, 2016, Wale became the first rapper ever to to open up for the State of the Union Address with a performance. Following the performance, the next day he took to Twitter to announce the title of his fifth studio album, SHINE. He revealed the meaning behind the title during an interview with Complex, which stands for “still here ignoring negative energy”.
