Santogold - Santigold
Santogold

Santogold is the 2008 debut album from Santi White, aka Santigold. Previously, she had garnered much support for “L.E.S. Artistes” and “Creator” throughout internet media. She changed her stage name from Santogold soon after release to avoid legal lawsuit. Today, the album is still sometimes referred to both names. The album received very positive reviews, most notably from Entertainment Weekly and Spin. Multiple producers contributed to the album including Chuck Treece, Diplo, Switch, and Jonnie “Most” Davis. She supported tours with M.I.A., Björk, Coldplay, JAY-Z & Kanye West, Beastie Boys, and others following the album’s success. Santogold is frequently noted by its genre-blending, including its use of hip-hop, reggae, new-wave, and alternative rock. The album is often included in lists for the “Best Albums of the 2000’s,” including one by Paste Magazine.
