Year of the Dragon marks the ninth studio album from Busta Rhymes, released on August 21, 2012.
The album features various artists, such as Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Vybz Kartel & Lil Wayne. It also has production from producers such as Focus…., Boi-1da and Jahil Beats.
Year of the Dragon marks the first and only time to be released by Cash Money Records, as Busta Rhymes later left the label in 2014. It also marks as the only album to be released for free on Google Play, instead of all streaming platforms.
The album’s title and cover art were both revealed on July 9, 2012. A month later, the official tracklist was revealed.
It’s lead single, “King Tut”, featuring J-Doe and Reek Da Villian was released on May 22, 2012, with a music video being released two months later, on July 25, 2012.
The album’s second single, “Doin' It Again”, featuring Reek Da Villian and Chanel, was released on August 1, 2012, with a music video being released a month later, on September 12, 2012, after the album had been released.
