Northern Lights is the debut album of the Canadian Electronic Duo Zeds Dead. The album features Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Pusha T, Diplo, Twin Shadow, Elliphant, Jadakiss, Styles P, and others. Zeds Dead previously collaborated with Twin Shadow on the 2014 single “Lost You.” In a statement, the band discussed the inspiration behind this album: “There is something undeniably captivating about the night sky. It’s almost like a direct projection of the unknown. The phenomenon of the Northern lights serves as a stark contrast to this –something vibrant and beautiful emerging from this darkness. It’s a cross roads where we feel a lot of our music exists and its something that we really wanted to further explore with our debut album and live tour. We can’t wait to bring you into this world over the next few months.” In a later interview, the duo added the following: *BOLDWhen did you guys start working on Northern Lights? Hooks: We had never put out an album; we had always been saving songs for an album. So ever since we started, every time we had a song it was more of a deep cut or not a single, it was like, “Maybe this will be on the album someday.” And it never really worked out that way, a lot of the songs would come out on different projects here and there, but a couple of them did remain until the time that we were putting the album together and one of those songs ended up on the album. I think since about two years ago, realistically is when we were like, we’re making an album and everything we did was for that.
