Florida - Diplo
Florida

Florida is the first studio album of the American producer Diplo, released on the Ninja Tune/Big Dada records in 2004. A DVD came along with the LP named: Diplo: Banned in Libya, which was released by Money Studies, it is the first production under the name Diplo (his original DJ name was Diplodocus). The album’s cover features the DJ rising out of the muck of a pool or a swamp somewhere in Florida. Every track is unique; in the album, Diplo tries all the variety of dance genres: rap, trip-hop and even dancehall. Diplo interviewed by A-Trak about the album said: I made Florida between a small apartment in Philadelphia and my mother’s house in Florida. I was working late nights and taking a bus through the city every night, smoking weed, putting on headphones and just making things I never heard before and could just imagine. Making this record created an entirely new world for me. Now that I think back it’s a very strange beginning and it’s crazy it’s been 10 years since its first release, but really, this record represents my first 23 years of life – what I had inside of me and where I came from so I’m excited to revisit it.
