The album was announced on 17 April 2016 by Pete Rock on his Instagram account and released for streaming on 1 Dec 2016. Guest appearances include Cam'ron, Rick Ross, Jadakiss & Styles P from The Lox, Big K.R.I.T, Mac Miller, Royce 5'9'‘, Dave East, Dom Kennedy, and BJ The Chicago Kid. Don’t Smoke Rock is Smoke DZA’s third release of 2016, following George Kush Da Button 2: Don’t Pass Trump The Blunt and He Has Risen EP. The album’s first single is “Limitless” featuring Dave East.
