Ciara - Ciara
Ciara

Ciara is the fifth studio album by singer-songwriter Ciara. It was released in July 2013 via Epic Records, after both she and LA Reid left their Jive/LaFace partnership and reunited. The record was promoted by three singles – “Body Party” which managed to enter the top 25 in the US becoming Ciara’s best selling single since “Never Ever”, “I’m Out” and “Overdose”. The album charted at #2 on The Billboard 200 and doubled her previous album’s first week sales. It also received generally positive reviews from critics, scoring 72/100 on Metacritic. Lyrically on Ciara, the singer talks love, sex and self-empowerment. “Body Party” is a feel good ballad, “Super Turnt Up” & “Overdose” are examples of her sassy and confident attitude and “Livin' It Up” & “I’m Out” are powerful, personal breakup/ feminist anthems. The album’s musical style revolves mainly around contemporary R&B & Hip-Hop. The album was originally titled “One Woman Army”, but Ciara decided that a self-titled LP was what represented her journey and fit her best at the time.
