Ice Cube’s ninth album, I Am the West, was released on September 28, 2010 through his independent label, Lench Mob Records. The album cover depicts him in an “Old West” style black-and-white photo. One producer Cube worked with on this album was Sir Jinx, who started in the rap game with Cube in the mid-1980s, and this was their first collaboration in nearly 20 years after Jinx produced on Cube’s first five solo projects. This album also saw Cube collaborate with his sons Doughboy and OMG a.k.a. O'Shea Jackson, Jr. The album peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart with support from the singles “I Rep That West,” “Drink the Kool-Aid,” “She Couldn’t Make It On Her Own,” and “Too West Coast.”
