Bumps & Bruises is Ugly God’s debut album and the follow-up to August 2017’s The Booty Tape. Ugly first teased the album in January 2018, when he posted the album artwork. He continued to tease this album and two other projects on February 20, 2018. He posted a trailer for the album on social media on October 19, 2018. Ugly God finally confirmed the album’s release date in a tweet on July 13, 2019. The album’s first pre-release single, “Hello,” was dropped on March 28, 2019. The second single, “Lost in the Sauce,” was released on May 10. Neither song appeared on the original version of the album, but they were included on the deluxe edition. In April 2018, Ugly God released an EP that served as a teaser for the album. One of the songs from that project, “Leave a Tip,” was reworked for Bumps & Bruises.
