Room 25 is Noname’s debut studio album and the follow-up to Telefone, her debut mixtape that received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. Room 25 further solidifies her majesty and finds Noname at her most personal and confident:
Y'all really thought a bitch couldn’t rap, huh?
Noname first announced Room 25 in a since-deleted tweet on June 24, 2018. She later deleted all of her posts on Instagram except one that said her next post would be the album cover. On September 10, 2018, Noname posted the cover art and revealed the album’s release date.
Following the album’s release, Room 25 garnered even more praise than its predecessor, boasting a 93 Metacritic score. It was also Metacritic’s highest rated album of 2018, the first album by a female artist to do so.
