This is the third tape and first album in LUCKI’s Freewave tape collection. With Freewave 3 being his latest release, after his April 2018 EP, DAYS B4 II. On July 8, 2018, LUCKI compared the forthcoming record to his other series, DAYS B4. This prompted listeners to believe this was his next project, further confirming Freewave 3 was officially completed in October 2018. In January 2019, the record was fully fleshed out—confirming a February release on the 15th, and doing a photoshoot for the cover on the 25th. On February 4, 2019, the artwork for Freewave 3 was shared via his social medias. He later revealed the fifteen-song tracklist on February 7th. Headed by singles like “More Than Ever,” “Peach Dream,” and “Politics,” the fifteen-track album shares an introspective look on life before and after a breakup, as shared via an interview with Pitchfork.
