Malik Ruff - QUADRY
Malik Ruff

Malik Ruff is the follow-up to 2016’s America, Me released in November 2, 2018 by hip-hop artist QUADRY through Sunset Beach Recordings. In this project, the young wordsmith echoes effortless style, from a multitude of chill-friendly beats to the pop aesthetic on the album’s artwork. Quadry takes a few different lyrical directions on his new project. He bounces between stoned optimism and thoughtful distress on “Bluegrass,” then cranks the intensity with “Louis,” as sirens ring out in the background. The 13-track project has a very dense production work with something for every hip-hop fan, since it includes a refreshing amount of instrumentation on top of the usual 808s and sharp snares. Also, electric guitars, classic piano and rich brass all make appearances on the instrumentals, allowing R&B vocalists such as Tev’n and bLAck pARty to showcase their abilities, too. QUADRY’s flow is truly diverse and impressive. He swaggers with the trap drums of beats by DJ Dahi on “Pirelli” and “Hot Headed.” Later, the rapper lays down quick lines with polished perfection — for proof, listen to any verse on “Bible in the Water.”
