Cuz I Love You is Lizzo’s third studio album and major-label debut album, released on April 19, 2019 via Atlantic Records. The album was announced on January 28–accompanied by news of a supporting North American tour starting in April–following the release of lead single “Juice” on January 4. The title track and “Tempo,” with collaborator Missy Elliott, were also premiered prior to the album’s release. “Cuz I Love You” was released as the second single to US radio stations on January 28, 2020. Much of the album’s success was as a result of the standalone single “Truth Hurts” and Coconut Oil cut “Good as Hell,” which were eventually added to deluxe and super deluxe editions respectively. The original album enjoyed positive reviews upon release, with Pitchfork’s Rawiya Kameir branding it “something of a thesis on internalized and externalized confidence,” while Kitty Empire of The Guardian in her 4-star review called it “the biggest, most focused set of her career thus far.”
