The Show, the After-Party, The Hotel is Jodeci’s third album and sees the group turn further solidify their reputation as the “bad boys of R&B” with more raunchy lyrics mixed with slow jams and soulful songs. As usual, DeVante Swing wrote and produced a majority of the album, with further production from Mr. Dalvin and Stevie J. Timbaland and Missy Elliott also received writing credits on this album after they made their debuts on Jodeci’s previous album Diary of a Mad Band. The album achieved platinum status after peaking at #2 on the Billboard 200 and becoming their third straight album to top the R&B Albums chart. The singles included “Get On Up,” “Love U 4 Life,” and “Freek'n You,” which was remixed with verses from Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Following this album, K-Ci & JoJo released several albums as a duo before the group reconvened 20 years later to release their fourth album, The Past, The Present, The Future.
