Share My World is Mary J’s third album released through MCA Records. The date of the album’s released was April 22, 1997. This was the first departure from working with Bad Boy executive producer Sean Puffy Combs due to the two falling out. She had to take full creative control and get the album done on her own and did just that. The album was based on Mary’s personal issues that she was revealing to the whole wide world. This was something Mary was known to do. Around this time Mary was going through it. Blige had reportedly experienced clinical depression, while also battling drug and alcohol addiction, and enduring an often turbulent relationship with R&B group Jodeci’s lead singer K-Ci Hailey.
