God's Son - Nas
God's Son

Nas' sixth studio album, God’s Son, was released during a very trying time in his life. While he was in the middle of the battle with JAY-Z, his mother passed away from cancer in April 2002. Both events had an influence on the content of the album—hardcore hip-hop mixed with melancholy music. The backdrops for this mixture were provided by Salaam Remi, Alicia Keys, Chucky Thompson, Ron Browz, Eminem and The Alchemist. The title is inspired by one of his tattoos and he said the following about the album: God’s Son is my most personal album and I poured my heart and spirit into it. The album received favorable reviews and reached platinum status after peaking at #12 on the Billboard 200 and topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts with support from the Top 40 singles “Made You Look” and “I Can.”
