Sheezus is the third studio album by British singer/songwriter Lily Allen. It was released on May 2nd, 2014 via Parlophone. The album title is a “little nod” to Kanye West’s Yeezus, revealed on an interview with Graham Norton on The Graham Norton Show on February 21st, 2014. After going on hiatus in 2009, Lily announced her return to the studio in October 2012: …throwing shit in the wall and seeing if anything sticks … It’s great to work at my own pace with no commitments other than to make music. The lead single, “Hard Out Here,' generated media backlash due to her alleged exploitation of African-American women after its music video premiere on November 12th, 2013. It went on to peak at #9 on the UK Singles Chart.
