Duwap Kaine

Donald George Ruffin (born February 21, 2002), better known by his stage name Duwap Kaine, is a rapper hailing from Savannah, Georgia. Duwap started rapping at the age of 6 years old, as he started freestyling and uploading them on YouTube, although most of the freestyles have since been deleted. A few years later, Duwap joined the rap group Ocean Gang and was given the stage name Dolphin God. During that era, Duwap would continue to upload freestyles, one of which went viral on the internet years later. In December 2011, Duwap released the infamous “Elmo freestyle,” to which it gained internet attention years later, spawning various memes. Rapper Lil B would take notice of these songs and would should out the then-young rapper through his social media pages. During the Ocean Gang era, Duwap would release his debut project, Who is Dolphn God? in 2013. He would then leave the Ocean Gang group and would release a slew of singles and projects throughout 2015 and 2016. He would then start get to get a cult following through SoundCloud, due to his incoherent style of rap. Duwap would then find early success with his breakout single, “Pouring Codeine,” on March 15, 2016. The track caught the likes of Lil Yachty, who had made a remix to the song. Around that time, he would start to work with Lil Candy Paint, to which the two would find success in their collaboration tracks. 2017 would be a important year for the rapper, as he started to gain a huge following, with songs such as “Disagree,” the Pi'erre Bourne assisted “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “#TellOnMe,” and his most popular track to date, “Santa.” His success would continue the following year, to which he released his debut studio album, Underdog, after releasing a slew of mixtapes and singles. Thanks to the massive success of Underdog, a sequel would be released on June 10, 2020. A third installment was then released on October 25, 2022. Since Duwap started gaining a following, he has worked with Lil Yachty, Ugly God, and Kodie Shane, and has garnered millions of listens on SoundCoud. He is an independent artist, and he has continued to release a slew of mixtapes, albums, and singles throughout his career.
