Vado

Vado
Teeyon Isiah Winfree, better known by his stage name Vado, is a prominent rapper hailing from Harlem, New York City. Born on March 13, 1985, Vado was raised amidst the vibrant and competitive rap culture of Harlem, drawing inspiration from the legends around him. He began his journey in hip-hop as a member of the local collective Most Hated, where his lyrical skills and charismatic presence quickly made a mark. However, it was his partnership with Harlem icon Cam'ron that truly catapulted him into the spotlight. Joining forces with Cam'ron in The U.N. (Us Now), Vado gained significant exposure and a platform to showcase his talent. In 2010, Vado’s debut mixtape, Slime Flu, was released to critical acclaim, marking the beginning of his ascent in the rap world. The mixtape featured hits like “Speaking in Tungs,” which highlighted his unique flow and storytelling prowess. Reflecting on his rise, Vado said: Harlem taught me how to hustle, how to be resilient, and how to stay true to myself. That’s what I bring to my music. His subsequent releases, including Slime Flu 2 and Slime Flu 3, continued to build his reputation for delivering consistent, high-quality music. In 2013, Vado made a significant career move by signing with DJ Khaled’s We the Best Music Group, which expanded his reach and influence. This partnership led to the release of the V-Day mixtape and the Sinatra EP, both of which were well-received. Collaborations with major artists like Rick Ross and French Montana on tracks such as “Look Me in My Eyes” showcased his versatility and ability to hold his own alongside hip-hop heavyweights: Working with Khaled and the team taught me a lot about the business and how to elevate my game. Throughout his career, Vado has remained true to his Harlem roots, consistently delivering music that resonates with his audience. His dedication to his craft and his ability to adapt to the evolving music landscape have solidified his place as a significant and enduring presence in hip-hop.
