Cherokee (R&B)

Singer, producer, model, and alternative R&B artist Cherokee started her career in 1992 as half of the duo Auto & Cherokee. By 1998, she had signed a contract with RCA Records and released her solo debut album I Love You… Me featuring the single “Ooh Wee Wee.” Label politics delayed the recording of her second album Soul Parade. Nonetheless, after being shuffled over to Arista Records to finish her projected after RCA’s urban music division shuttered, a music videos for the Keith Crouch-produced, Bilal-inspired single “I Swear” was released. A video for the Andre 3000 collaboration “Nectarine” also saw the light of day. Unfortunately, despite advance critical acclaim, Arista decided to shelve the Soul Parade album which eventually leaked to fans on the internet.
